Social Security Phone Scams

The Social Security Administration warns that criminals are using a new twist on Social Security phone scams.

In addition to robocalls or live callers, fraudsters pretending to be government employees claim there is identity theft or another problem with one’s Social Security number, account, or benefits. Scammers may also send fake documents to convince you to comply with their demands. Remember, the Social Security Administration’s employees will never threaten you for information or promise a benefit in exchange for personal information or money.
